ABD ordusu, Suriye’de tutulan DAİŞ’li 4 bin 580’den fazla tutukluyu Irak’a transfer etti. Ocak ayında başlatılan operasyonun, olası kaçışları önlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirildiği öne sürüldü.
AFP’nin haberine göre, Irak Başbakanlığı’na bağlı Güvenlik Bilgilendirme Hücresi Başkanı Saad Maan, şu ana kadar 4 bin 583 kişinin Irak’a ulaştığını, hedeflenen toplam sayının ise 7 bin olduğunu açıkladı. Yetkililer, söz konusu kişilerin artık “güvenli gözaltı merkezlerinde” tutulduğunu belirtti. Iraklı güvenlik kaynaklarına göre tutuklular arasında Suriyeliler, Iraklılar, Avrupalılar ve farklı ülkelerden kişiler bulunuyor. Irak yargısı, nakledilenler hakkında hukuki süreçlerin başlatıldığını duyurdu.
Irak mahkemeleri geçmişte çok sayıda DAİŞ üyesini idam veya müebbet hapis cezasına çarptırmış, daha önce Suriye’den getirilen bazı yabancı DAİŞ’lileri de bu kapsamda yargılanmıştı.
